'Mosaic' is Michael Holroyd's second volume of family memoirs which relates to but is independent of 'Basil Street Blues'. The work begins with the author trying to make sense of his aunt's labyrinthian financial affairs, then moves onto Holroyd searching for a missing relative and uncovering his family tree. A love story, a detective story, a book of secrets, Mosaic is both a beautifully written journey into a forest of family trees, and a fascinating insight into the workings of genealogy. This copy is the first edition and has been signed by the author on the title page in blue ink. It appears not to have been read.</p>
